Not Every Hero Gets The Girl
Not every Spiderman gets their Gwen Stacy. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can’t always save that one relationship. Even after changing who you are, after straining yourself and struggling to make grand romantic gestures, you can still not be good enough. Love doesn’t work out sometimes. Love is complicated and confusing. Love hurts because love fades and comes back with time. Love can exist for multiple people at once, and that is why love is unpredictable. No matter how much you might love someone, and no matter how strong the bond you have with them is, you must learn to not change who you are for them. If all you need to do is lead a normal life and stop risking your life to save others, that is all too much. If all you need to do is change your name and acquire a cryptic and admirable reputation created by strangers who wouldn’t care if you lived or died, that is all too much.
The past
is in the past, where it should stay. Fantasizing and scheming on the good old
days in hopes of bringing them back is pointless. People change. Things change.
Thinking about what could have been and changing it into what could be in the
hopes the person you long for feels the same way is pointless. Life goes on and
the chances that the person you have loved for years still reminisces about
your relationship in the same way you do are slim. There is always someone
better, someone with more time on their hands and less stuff on their plate.
Someone who is willing or able to do something you can’t, and sometimes love
prevails and you are able to get your person back. Realistically, you learn to stop
looking at the past and look towards the future. No one can have everything, there
will always be something missing. Not every hero gets the girl, it is always
more complicated than that.

I really like how you related Gatsby's situation to Miles' and Gwen's situation Across the Spiderverse of not being able to be with the person you love. However, I think Miles and Gwen are going to be able to get together in the next movie (that will hopefully come out within 5 years).
ReplyDeleteI liked how you wrote this in Gwen's perspective and related it to Gatsby's situation with Daisy. The last few sentences were really eye-catching, and I love the informal yet deliberate language and style you incorporate in your blogs.
